What are the internationally recognized certifications for the Chinese language?

The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), administered by the Hanban, is the most accepted and recognized certification for the Chinese language internationally. The HSK assesses your reading, writing and listening skills in Mandarin Chinese and is offered at six different proficiency levels, from HSK 1 (beginner) to HSK 6 (advanced).
Another important exam is the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL), administered by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. The TOCFL is divided into five levels and assesses listening, reading and writing skills.
In addition, the University of Cambridge English Language Assessment offers the Business Chinese Test (BCT), an exam that measures the language skills needed for the business world. The BCT is divided into two independent tests: BCT (Listening & Reading) and BCT (Speaking & Writing).
Finally, the Chinese Language Proficiency Test (CLPT), offered by Beijing Language and Culture University, is another internationally recognized exam that measures Chinese language proficiency.
